Dream Back-Up Dancer: Ciara's 'Like a Boy'

I've always been a fan of androgyny, especially when it deals with critical topics of gender equality and overall rights advocacy. I've also always been a fan of Ciara. Her amazing ability to sing, dance, and stay fierce while doing both is such a powerful message to young girls.

When 'Like a Boy' was released in 2006 (almost 20 years ago!), the music video blew me away. It showcased strong women - not just sexy women - and blurred the lines between genders. The choreography was also incredibly developed and performed.

My BaMFaM collaborator, Rickia Davenport, and I put our own spin on this song a few years back, fulfilling my dream to produce a dance to this song. However, I am still hungry to be a back-up dancer for Ciara!

Furthermore, I had the opportunity to see Ciara live recently, and my goodness, her presence is still bigger than life well into her late 30's. And her dancers were FIRE!
