Jennifer (Fox) Tkocs: July 2024 #BaMFaM Spotlight

Jennifer (Fox) Tkocs came to a BaM dance class and immediately knocked our socks off! Her ability to move plus her great personality made her an instantly beloved dancer. Fox made her debut in the BaMFaM's latest video 'Cell Block Bitch', and she continues bringing a much needed hilarious and wise vibe to the group. Her songs requests and recollection of dances from pop culture past always put a smile on everyone's face. We can't wait to dance with Fox on even more future projects!

2. How long have you been dancing? officially started dance class way back in 1989, but I ended up there because I wouldn't stop dancing any time there was music when I was a little kid

3. Favorite dance style/genre? modern and lyrical

4. Why do you dance? dance lets me feel like my truest self. It's a place where I can be fully present and not distracted by anxiety, worry, and stress. I have struggled with anxiety since I was little, and dance - performing and competing, especially - was the one thing that quieted my mind and made me feel really alive.

5. What do you do when you're not dancing (occupation/other hobbies)? I work as a pharmacist, but I'm also a distance runner, a writer, a volunteer dog coach at Humane Animal Rescue on the Northside, and an aspiring travel vlogger. I love taking my staffy Layla Grace on road trips and traveling with my husband and friends to see Dave Matthews Band.

6. If you could go on tour with any artist as a backup dancer, who would it be? Janet Jackson! And don't worry Janet, I spent multiple summers of the 90s perfecting your video choreography in my living room, so I am ready for the stage. (I am also available if Kate Bush ever wants to re-record her iconic music video for Running Up That Hill, as I've been practicing that choreography for the last few summers haha)

7. Words to live (and dance) by? "Celebrate we will, 'cause life is short but sweet for certain" (of course that's a DMB quote haha)
